Industry Partnering Employment ProgrammeThis local industry partnership employment programme works closely with employers in specific industries to link job seekers to sustainable employment with on-the-job training. Participants have the opportunity to move into a Modern Apprenticeship or a similar industry training agreement. They learn about career options and gain skills necessary for securing successful employment. Through the local industry partnership we are working with three industry groups: Retail/Hospitality, Manufacturing, Civil Construction. There are currently 30 places available for residents within the Rodney District and the application process is easy.
If accepted you will go into a 6-week training programme which includes 2-weeks work experience to allow you to rotate amongst all the employers within the industry group you are interested in. Based on the participant's performance and interest in the industry and on potential employer's perspective, participants will be considered for employment. Kristi Byer, the REDT Employment Programme Coordinator, maintains regular contact with job seekers and REDT will continue 3 months of job support once employment is found. The programme is funded by the Ministry of Social Development through Work and Income and managed by Rodney Economic Development Trust.
